Rachael O’Brien

Queensland cattle producers now have access to further assistance in biosecurity planning and advice, with the appointment of Rachael O’Brien to the position of Biosecurity & Extension Manager for the Livestock Biosecurity Network.

Rachael is available to all producers in southern Queensland, below the Tropic of Capricorn. Producers in northern Queensland are encouraged to contact the Northern Australia manager.

Rachael works with the cattle industry to increase farmers’ role in animal welfare, biosecurity, emergency animal disease responses and disease surveillance.

Rachael comes from a biosecurity background having worked for Biosecurity Queensland for six years in North Queensland, based in Townsville and Cloncurry.

I’m pleased to report that while the livestock industry bodies search for a long-term, sustainable model for extension services, Animal Health Australia will be delivering some biosecurity extension services, complementing the existing AHA Farm Biosecurity Program.
